Title: A New Toy...
Post by: Caribou on August 22, 2011, 04:36:28 AM
I never buy myself anything but I may have gone off the deep end with this:

I saw it on CL and it was a bargain, 2006, used twice, still smells new, too  :D

Thanks guys!
I was originally shopping for used bumper pull trailers but we do not have the best area to turn around once you get back here.
So a little 5th wheeler works out really well for us and we have just one child so it's a nice fit.
We have a Dodge 2500 Cummins to pull and it doesn't even seem to know it's there :)

Thanks :)
don't be too jealous, the truck is a 2006, too. ;)

When I bought it my husband was kinda annoyed and kept calling it "your trailer"
After we got the hitch installed and picked it up, he drove it home and parked it and now calls it "our trailer" ;)
He didn't realize how easy it was to tow and maneuver
We're taking it out for it's first over-nighter in a couple weeks.

What time do you want us to gather outside and serenade you with a fine selection of lullabies?

We can also provide a wide selection of animal sounds....I hear that NePaS does a nice African lion and a spot on Cougar screech.   I've been told that I do a passable Tarzan call and I'm working on my Australasian Kookaburra bird call.

I can not guarantee that you will get much sleep.....I'm not sure if it's from fear.......or from the pain in your sides from laughing 'till it hurts!!!   ;D ;D ;D

Nice "5'er"!

You probably already know this, but check the date codes on the trailer tires, five years is a long time in tire-speak.

I put new tires on our class-c last year or so, and they only had 20k miles on them, but they were hitting six years old according to the date codes, and starting to show some cracks and stuff. Better safe than sorry.

I've put like 12k on the new ones already  ;D

Yes,
we are replacing the tires and the batteries (though they seem to be keeping a charge)
We're stripping and re-caulking areas around the edge of the rubber roof and the front nose.
The rig was hardly used but also sat out in the elements so there is definitely some overdue maintance.
Luckily no leaks anywhere.
We do not get too hot here, it's the freeze/thaw that gets ya.
After we winterize it mid-October it's going into our pole barn.
