And I really needed one
Lots of things have kept me down and out the last few months, bad divorce and death of my 37 yearold son works on the mind.
About a week ago I ran upon an old friend from High School we talked a while and I invited her to my cabin. I'm off work on Mondays and she was too this week.
She showed up at 8 a.m. and the day got better from there
I had just started babybacks in the smoker, already had slaw made and was making fresh bread
Wanda jumped right in and helped
She made some cathead biscuits and fried up some country sausage and a couple of eggs
After breakfast, We walked my property, she saw my hunting houses and food plots we even saw 3 deer
Back at the cabin I worked the bread again and put it in the pans to rise
Wanda wanted some sweet potato's so we ran to one of my friends farm and Rick gave us 2 bushels
Back at the cabin she started peeling taters , sent me to the store to get a pie crust and baked a sweet tater pie
The bread and pie baked at the same time, ribs were ready and it was 12:30 so we ate
We ate our fair share and had a couple drinks with lunch Great meal and Great company
She left around 3:30 and said she would be back
It was nice to relax for a few hours and enjoy friendship and a great meal
Sounds like there was a devine plan working for you after all the hardships.
Any Lady that can make Cat Head biscuits has to be considered a keeper.
Cat Head bicuits with Mayhal jelly or Fig preserves and two dallops of REAL butter.
Mmmmmm. Cane syrup with Butter mixed real good and drizzled on biscuits.
Congrats, sounds like you have a new "old" friend.
Keep the Cat Heads comin'.
It's good to hear you are back on track.
Though I had to google "cat head biscuits". :)
Glad to hear you had a wonderful Monday with Wanda :)
Sounds like you are due for some blessings in your life.
Hope you plan some more Super Mondays,
Carolyn
Sounds like you had a great day. Definitely deserving of one. I'm sorry for the loss of your son.
Sounds like things are lookin to the bright side your ya.
Hope you have many more days just like that.
I lost my best friend who I called my brother and my kids there uncle last year, he was only 34.
This weekend at the MWSO took allot of weight off my chest but I still aint over it, gettin better though.
Keep your chin up.
I really don't know how you deal with the death of a son, but I pray the good lord has made you stronger for it...sometimes life is a real burden, but I think someone has come into your life that may help lift some of that weight from your heart...enjoy life because it is so short...good luck
Ghost,
It is gonna be rough for a while, I also have lost my brother and our mom lost her son. Some of what my mom is going through is denial and that in its self is hard enough and losing ones son.
Hang in there and take all the time you need... We all know you loved your son and miss him very much.
Good friends are hard to come by like the lady that spent the day at your cabin, May want to consider asking her to spend a weekend up there with you so you both can relax, chat and enjoy the wilderness together. Good friends like are very hard to come by.
Gotta love it when a plan comes together, :)
