Title: Hello all, new to smoking :)
Post by: Skeetboy on August 28, 2011, 07:23:18 AM
Hello there.  I am new to smoking, found this forum, and was hoping to get to some helpful tips, as they seem a bit tricky to find on the internet.

Today we will be smoking a whole chicken, as well as an Elk Roast.  The chicken is a first time, we have done an elk roast, but I cannot remember what we used last time.

So far, my chicken is sitting in a bine of Water, Sugar, and Salt in the fridge.  I read to leave it there for about 4 hours. I am looking for an injectable marinade as I think that will be the best for flavor...?

Anyone have any amazing hint for either the chicken or the elk roast?

Welcome Skeetboy

For the chicken, suggest you put on a lower rack than the Elk,and leave your vent wide open to get the moisture from the chicken out.

Good luck !
