This might bare some interest to some, but not all ;D Today the pool was closed, It is one of my daily jobs to go check the chemicals in one of or both of the School districts pools. This pool is the one I normally check every day, it is 60 years old and keep in mind it is only my job to check chemicals and fix boilers , pumps and such not to clean pool decks. Well, I had to install the starter blocks for lap races and no one was there and I sure wanted to do the dip But I refrained, Thank gawd as my supervisor came strolling in just as I was looking for a pair of trunks.

Heres a picture of the German made boilers that heat the pool water, the building heat and the shower water. We installed those two summers ago and believe you me that was not a treat ;D There are two so you always have a back up incase one shuts down and when you have to do maintenance on on the other still is running ;) They also switch back and forth on run time so the hourly run time stays within 300 hours of each other. Lead and Lag :)

Heres a picture of the 20 horsepower, three phase 277 volt pump. It pulls 650 gallons a minute from the surge pit and pumps the water back into the pool. you can see I pull about 30 band aids a day out of it by the stuff on the floor :)

Heres a picture of the chlorinator, I put about 12 pounds of Calcium Hypochlorite (chlorine) in this sucker a day, Its good on the lungs and I even wear a gas mask :)

Heres a picture of the pool filters, Last summer I had to change the sand in them and change all the Latterals and stuff so i was actually standing inside them and could not see out, Im 6'-3". I opted to go green and replaced the sand with recycled glass that looks just like sand but light green, supposed to last longer than sand. Below the filters under the grate is the surge pit, this pit serves as a overflow resevour for when 100 people jump in the pool the water goes there and is stored until they get out then the pump gets it all back in the pool real quick

The Dive Tank is 12' deep. The entire county fire department comes hear to train for scuba diving and search and rescue.

My pool spills out the strainer when there playin vollie ball. >:(

I usually keep the FC around 2.5 to 3.0 and shock when necessary, Ph 7.4, ALK 110 to 120, Calcium @400 and no Cyanuric acid ;)

That was a good one, I'll use that on my next certification class, CYA is the known abbreviation for Cyanuric acid ;D

You are under stricter guidelines than myself but i am also checked for water quality by the health department atleast 5 times a year. Knock on wood, I have never been shut down in twenty years ;D
