Post by: Mach1 on September 04, 2011, 12:14:27 PM
I'm thinking of putting some coke in the drippings pan below the butt anyone see any problems in this or ever tried it?

Just remember coke has a lot of sugar in it. If you let it go dry you will end up with black tar

Doesn't really do anything special but is always fun to experiment.

I was putting tea bags in my water pan for awhile. ;D

It smelt good.

make sure to mix the white powder in real good...... oh wait, you meant the drink......  ;) ;D ;D ;D

i have seen coke and dr pepper used in bbq sauces, why not drippings? like was mentioned, watch the sugar don't burn or cause it to get too sweet.

I'm going to try it and see what happens, last but I did, I put apple juice in it and it made the smoker have a little apple smell that was nice. I'll let you all know how it goes, I'm going to start the butts after my tri tips are done :D.
