Title: Anyone wanting to go in on an order of cellulose casing?
Post by: Sailor on September 12, 2011, 04:56:51 PM
I am needing some more 32mm cellulose casings and will be placing an order.  Shipping is a killer if you only order a few so I gots ta thinkin.  I wonders if any of the sausage makers here might want to try the cellulose casings.  If one buys 1-5 they are $4.07 each. 6-11 they are $3.66 each. 12-23 they are $3.46 each. 23-35 they are $3.26 each and 36 and over they are $3.05 each.  Shipping for just 1 sleeve is $10.90.  Shipping for 50 sleeves is $13.77 so shipping for a small amount is just about cost prohibitive.

I am a thinkin that mailing in a padded envelope will be a few bucks at most so if a few of you are wanting to try the casing we might go in and buy 50 and I can mail them out and only charge the $3.05 per sleeve and what ever the mailing fee is and add the $13.77 divided by the number of guys we get and add that.

I will take 10 sleeves to start off with and if need be I can reduce what I take to make sure everyone that wants a sleeve can get one.  If we get 5 guys that each take 10 then the shipping cost would be $2.76 plus the mailer and the cost of the sleeves.

Just throwing this out to see if there is any interest.  I know that CRG and Iceman have expressed an interest in trying the casing.

The cellulose casing is non-edible and it peels fantastic.  I have made 2 loads of Kielbasa and after they are finished let them rest in the fridge overnight and then peel them and they come out with a perfect rind for a skinless sausage.  The 32mm is a 50 foot sleeve that will stuff 20 pounds of sausage.

Let me know if you are interested.

I have placed the order and this is the break down of the cost.  With the help of CGR a better deal was cut with a different vendor.   Ordered a caddy of 50 tubes and each tube has 70 feet.  The shipping to my house is $15.00 so that is 30 cents per tube (not bad at all).  Cost of a tube is $2.52 plus the .30 for a total of $2.82 cents.  Whoot!  Now the only charge will be for the padded envelope plus postage to get them to you guys.  I don't think that cost is going to be very much.  Sure beats paying $4.50 for a tube plus $10.00 for shipping.  The lady said I should receive the caddy next week.  If you can send me a PM with your mailing address I will ship them out as soon as I get them.  Between what Sonny and I are splitting we will have extras if someone else is wanting some or if you have signed up and want more.

Actually, we have 10.5 to thanks also.

He told me about www.dupeyequipment.com a year ago.

If you check them out, look left and click on catalog.

It is a temp download of their catalog. The casings are on page 5.

The special deal we got is not in the catalog.

The Caddy arrived today and I have shipped your orders out and sent a PM to each of you with the total cost.  The cost per tube to my house including shipping was $2.82 and it cost 5.65 to mail including tracking.  After I took them to the Post office I find out they have a bigger envelope that will fit 10 tubes and it only costs a buck more.  These casings look and feel like the ones that I used before except they have a black stripe.  Guess that is to show that there is a casing on the sausage and that you need to peel it off.  I hope you all have as good of luck with them as I did.  If you all like them I am sure that someone or me will put another deal together.

Got everyones check and or cash so I do thank you for prompt payment.  It allowed me to go by some meat to make 20 pounds of Kielbasa.  Cobra, I know yours is on the way.  NEPAS is moving so his casings are waiting on his door step when he returns on Monday.
