yes the red are ripe jalapenos. The red make great chipotles.
Yes like Pensrock said they are the rip ones. The light green/yellow ones we call waxed peppers and are quit hot also.

So if I were to leave my jals on the plat longer they will turn red? I have never had one do that.
Are they hotter as well?
I like to take the peppers and slice in half, clean out seeds fill with cheese and grill on BBQ, makes a great app.

zueth, yes if you leave them on the plant they will turn colors. I think the flavor changes some as well.
