We spent a couple of weeks in Tuscany last month. These are a few snaps of the local market in Cecina, a small town near the coast. If you start at one end of the market you'll stuffed to the gills from the free samples every vendor wants you to try. Cecina Mare is about a 10 minute drive away and it is on the coast. On a clear day you can see Elba.
I've got a lot of pictures of the indoor market in Livorno that I'll post later.

These piggies are completely boned out and then stuffed with sausage and meat chunks from the pig. The skin is wrapped around the stuffing and trussed then the pig is roasted. They sell it by the slice. Yes, it is good.

The last time I was in Italy it was Lire, about 10 bazillion to the dollar... more like (I think) 1500 lire = 1$US I remember a hotel room being 20,000 .
That 1984.

There are times that I think I was born in the wrong time and in the wrong country. Looking at your pics is one of those times. WOW. I cannot convince my wife to go to Italy. She and her mom went to Italy when she was 14 and several not pleasant things happened including getting hit on by a number of sleazy Don Giovannis and it scared her.
Amazing,,,,,,,,,totally amazing!
Cool pics.
