Title: Bradley Forum Christmas Exchange III
Post by: classicrockgriller on October 04, 2011, 12:42:53 PM
It's THAT time again. "Bradley Forum Christmas Exchange III"

For the last two years we have done a Christmas gift exchange on a volunteer basis.

It was a blast and it is that time of the year to DO IT AGAIN!

If you are new and not sure what this is about, read these threads.

(2009) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=11877.0

(2010) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=18186.0

Here is the threads where the gifts were posted.

(2009) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=12880.0

Chris (aka Tenpoint5 aka 10.5) has agreed to once again be in charge of the info.

We will be using $30 as a maximun (with shipping) as the dollar amount.

We will again keep it cost effective so it will be like last year, Us to US, Canada to Canada,

UK to UK, etc.

The cutoff date to be included in the gift exchange is Sunday night (midnight) November 13th.

Tenpoint5 will have a week to get all the PM's sent so YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR GIFT NAME TILL THE 21st!

If after the 22nd you have not receive the persons name and addy to send the gift to, give Chris

a PM and He will look into the problem. BUT NOT until after the 22nd.

Last year everybody was sitting on GO and it almost turned into a Thanksgiving Gift Exchange

so we have set up some guidelines for when to ship your present.

DO NOT ship your present until November 28 or after. BUT you have to have your

present shipped by December 9th.

If you want to be included in the 3rd Annual Christmas Exchange send Tenpoint5 a PM

with your Forum name and real NAME and complete address that you want your present sent to.

If you have a comment or question, post it here in THIS thread.

We have had a 100% success for two years, SO don't be the one to drop the Ball to spoil

it for someone else. If you are not sure then don't sign.

This year we will have a "I Got It" thread that you are OBLIGATED to post a pic of your

present received and who sent it to you. That is our check off list.

LET THE FUN START! ............................... I'm IN!

Eh!

The boys would be correct. Blue is our Canadian Friends. It is more for me than anyone else. Once I get to jostling around 60-80 names and making sure the northern folks get paired together to circumvent the border nazi's. and that everyone is matched up with hopefully someone new and not who they had last year. Just makes my life easier is all to make some BLUE and some not. If it makes you feel better they are all red on the master sheet.

Title: Re: Bradley Forum Christmas Exchange III

I just want to make it clear that the Christmas gift exchange IS OPEN to any registered active member of the forum. Hopefully you will have more than one or two posts. But if you have an Active account you able to participate in the Forums Reindeer Game!!

For those that are kind of unclear on this whole process, I will break it down in a nutshell.

1- You send 10.5 a PM saying I'm in and provide your forum name and your mailing address.

2 - You go about finding a gift in the $20-$30 range. It can be BBQ/Smoker related, or it could just be a sampling of products that are from where you live. (These have been really popular) or what ever you want to give as a gift. You will box that gift up making sure to put your FORUM NAME and your REAL NAME inside. So they know who to thank.

3- Sometime around the week of Thanksgiving you will get a PM with a Forum Name and Mailing address. You will write that on the box and then AFTER Thanksgiving on the date Sonny has posted you will mail your box

4- You will then revert back to a 8yr old kid and run and check your mailbox every day sometimes twice a day to see if your gift has arrived yet.

5 - Your box will arrive. You will have it ripped open and half gone before you get in the house. Don't eat everything in there just yet. You will lay everything out nice and neat except for that taterchip bag you ripped in half and take a picture of it and then post the picture in the I got it thread. Remember to say Thank-You to who ever it was that sent you your gift. Then continue to eat what you can out of your box and watch and see what other wild and crazy and cool things others have come up with to send out as gifts.

It is all that easy and it sure is a whole bunch of fun. Number 5 is the most important part of the whole game, as I continue to keep track of who sent their gift and who didn't with this until all of the gifts have been accounted for.

So join in on the fun. I know there is a whole bunch of folks that will tell you they was skeptical about this the first year. Then as the gifts started being posted said Damn I should have gotten in on this.

Dear No60G,
You simply cannot open a door like that and not expect some of these guys to not go through it.  Of course I myself would never comment on anything like that. ;D

Ok this stuff has to stop right now! First they say the forum is going down for a day, So I ended up spending time talking to my wife only to find It wasn't down. Now I have to get my mind out of the gutter. If this keeps up I am going to need to go into therapy.

It's THAT time again. "Bradley Forum Christmas Exchange III"

For the last two years we have done a Christmas gift exchange on a volunteer basis.

It was a blast and it is that time of the year to DO IT AGAIN!

If you are new and not sure what this is about, read these threads.

(2009) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=11877.0

(2010) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=18186.0

Here is the threads where the gifts were posted.

(2009) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=12880.0

(2010) http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=19173.0

I'm IN!

Since Sonny is at Deer Camp and not here to bump this I will.  If you want to participate in the exchange you need to PM Chris by 11/13 midnight.  This is a fun thing to participate in.  I can't wait to find out who I draw so I can start getting my box ready.  I am so ready for the games to begin.

I haven't even started looking yet! I will wait until I find out who I have then tailor the gift towards what I think they will enjoy. Something different maybe like the case of Personalized BBQ Sauce I sent last year. Who knows. But today is the last day for any registered member to join in the fun. You have until Midnight to send me your mailing information in a PM.

Unfortunately these weren't taken while hunting.
Company I work for is subcontracted with MidAmerican Energy to remove trees from under their transmission lines. I was walking the lines out at Lake Manawa State Park just down the street from where I live and bumded into these guys.
Also got a couple of pics of the remains of some houses that were damaged during the "Great Flood of 2011". I'll post those in another thread.

Been away playing in the woods and I see we have ended with 66 players for this year.

Great number and I know everyone is excited about sending and receiving their gifts.

Thanks to all who is taking part in the Christmas Exchange, and ......................

A BIG THANKS to 10.5 for doing all the paper work to make this happen. Got a road trip

coming up tomorrow and then a stay at the Beach for Thanksgiving and maybe then I can

relax at home for a few days till time to go back to camp for the last month of hunting. I

have seem more nice deer this year than any before. We had protein fed all summer and

it is paying off even with the drought conditions. Son shot a nice 16 1/2 inch spread 9 pt.

That is a NICE buck for our area. Field dressed 155 lbs. Food at camp is like always .......

........ A+++. This years Cajun Microwaved Hog, had to be one of the best ever done at camp.

I have one that is store bought and they are not that expensive. They go by the name ...

La Caja Asadora. They are very big in the Miami area with the Cuban population. PM me

Also while relaxing after hunting, we built 3 hog traps consisting of 4 16ft hog panels.

They are built in a circle and have a door release at the feed inside the trap. Each panel

is supported by 4 T-post. We are going to build 3 more during the last month. We have

two right now down in the river bottom and one up the the higher area. We will build one

more in the bottom and two more up in the higher land. If and when we get rain again,

the hogs will move out of the bottom to higher grounds. Also these will be used to help

in the Spring when we trap the baby Boar's for a clip job. ;D Been hot here and 80% of

my hunts have been in shorts and camo crocs. Bucks are just starting to go into rut which

is late for us and is due to the drought and hot weather.

Quite the coincidence Dman, My granddad and his buddy years before I was a thought, started a treetopping business. They started with hand tools and a Model t ford pick up. Anyway, my uncle still runs the business but he most does slashing for B.C. Hydro clearing the line right of ways. Actually, his son in law does most of the work while my uncle does small pruning jobs for his old customers who won't hire any other company.

If for some Un Godly reason you just might have received the same name that you had last year and your getting ready to send me a pm about it.

I have about 5 hours invested in taking all of the names/addresses and transposing them into a document. Dividing them into US and Canadian lists. cutting them lists apart drawing the names and placing them on another list. Not to mention I just spent 2 hours sending a PM to each and every one of the 60 some people playing this year.

Might I make the following suggestion.

SEND THEM A DIFFERENT GIFT!!!!

Mine went out today..

Couldn't get away at lunch, but figgered the Post Office would be open till 5:30 at least with it being Christmas season...
Well, it was "open" --BUT, without PEOPLE to ship packages --- just machines to sell stamps and such.

No dang wonder they're so far in DEBT.  They got great pension packages, but showing up to mail packages... when they're need the most?
Ohhhhhhhhhhh... THAT is too much trouble
Geeeeeeeeeeeez...

Cost me a little more, but the FedEx lady was AT WORK, AND HAPPY TO SHIP MY PACKAGE.

[I'm gonna get off this RANT in a minute.. but...]
They're SUBSIDIZED WITH TAX DOLLARS?  WHY???
Was SOLYNDRA such a success that the U.S. Guvment has a bountiful SURPLUS???
HUHHHH????

Don't cry to me if you can't even show up to WORK when you're needed.
Pffffffffffffft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FREE MARKETS WORK!
Guvment steals.

Ok.  Back to my corner.
Sorry.
Awrighten.

Seen the other day  the US Post office is raising prices. They feel there charging to little while the other places charge more. I believe they said something like a 13.00 package today will be 43.00 after January. IF They think their loosing money now wait till it goes that high.

Nah, Fed UPS will be more than happy to pick up the slack, though it will cost more than the current Flat Rate boxes from USPS.

I bet it gets delivered by Dec. 6th to a very deserving guy named..............Ray

...............now who wants to get Sticky Fingers Dry Rubbed and Jim Beam puck smoked???

Ray

Glad to see you got it.  Sorry it got shipped in 4  boxes :)

Steven

4 boxes???

I got box #1 on Tuesday and found 12 Jim Beam pucks.
I got box #2 on Tuesday and found 6 bottles of Sticky Fingers Dry Rub.  Sprinkled some on my hand and was reminded of a light Old Bay taste.  That to a Maryland guy is PRIMO TASTY!!!  Good choice there!!!  Boneless Country Ribs in very near future.
I got box #3 yesterday and was threatened by a little guy with Whoop Ass Hot Sauce.  Bottle design cracks me up!!!
I await box #4 with child on Christmas morning anticipation.

Steven, you done good....much grass!!!

Pictures to follow.

Anyone wanna guess what was hiding on my side porch???  Monty Hall... I'll take box #4.  Yepperro...there it sat in a plastic bag to protect it from the rain we had on Wednesday (thank you Brown).  I'm not sure what name I like best......Fighting Cock or Bone Sucking......Hush yo mouth there...I'm talking about BBQ sauces....sheesh, what kinda place is this here???   As I said earlier...I see some country style boneless ribs in the very near future.

Steven....I know having to have my booty sent in four packages cost extra handling but I can guarantee you that having four packages coming on different days was worth it.   The slip in the box with the sauces cracked me up.  It reads "FIGHTING COCK BBQ (Sold by Endless Summer Tanning Centers Inc.)"

I will be posting pictures in the "Got It" area.

Ray.....just a widdle kid at heart....again!!!

I have spoken with the CRG and he has been feeling a bit under the weather. Along with the fact that he has been residing out at the Deer hunting lease. Its hunting season in Texas and we don't see much of him until bout January
