Title: Sweet bread bowls
Post by: OU812 on October 17, 2011, 05:49:31 PM
Had the craving for some cheesy potato soup this weekend soooooooooo I made up some bread bowls.  ;D

The first batch using my bowls to make some bread bowls.  ::)

My daughter in law's attempt to cut one out, all I could do was laugh.

She got it done and was happy.

These were a little to big.

So I made another batch, this time I replaced the 1/2 tsp salt with 1 tsp garlic salt.

The bread dough after kneading.

A couple hrs later.

Deflated and formed into 8 oz balls and in my bread bowl bowls.

Didnt let these rise as long or as high.

Had some for lunch today,,,,,,,,,,thats how you cut out a bowl.

With the center cut out these babys fit the equivalent of a 16 oz butter tub of soup in there.

The garlic flavor was not strong enough for me but you could taste it in the back ground

Very Nice Job, In the " whats fer lunch " post they looked like muffin size but I see the enormity in that fine delicious entree you have prepared for our viewing pleasure. I to  agree I may not be able to finish such a fine bowl of soup. Thanks for posting Curt!!!

You got me thinking on this.

Some "mini me" muffin type soup bowls as a Side or appetizer.

Of course with the "filler soup" leaking over the side.

Maybe invert the bowls after they have been cored and then toast them.

Or maybe under the broiler after cored.

The girls keep tellin me to make them smaller,,,,,,,,,,,takes them 2 sittings to finish one.

I've got some smaller bowls and gonna cut them down to 4 oz next time,,,,maybe that'll make them happy.  ;D

When I make dinner rolls there 2 oz dough balls and they eat 2 of em.

Was telling Sis about this and she said maybe make toasted croutons out

of the pulled out bread for an extra additive on top the soup and the top

can be sliced and toasted for an EVOO and Bread Dipping seasoning.

Ok this is going way out on the Limb, make the bread in a square container, slice 1/2" thick, spin slices, stack slices and hollow out, it would look like a basket or one of them home made wishing wells ;D Maybe not but might win the Iron Chef contest ;D

I'd have a smile on my face - and I wouldn't be able to look at my glucometer for a few days!  Wowzer's I wish I had learned to bake bread better!

I'd cut the biguns in half, scoop out bread, brush some garlic butter in, then toast.  Maybe slice off a bit of the rounded top to level. it.
