There wasn't any return address, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I can detect cat hairs -- thanks STC I really needed this.
Couple weeks ago I was in severe pain. To make a long story short, it was a kidney stone. It was the size and in the location that is should have passed on its own. It didn't and we had to decide if we wanted to go get it or wait. The pain subsided so i was leaning towards just waiting since going in to get it would result in having a catheter and an stint in me for about 5 days. Since I was concerned about not knowing where I would be when the pain returned I decided to have them get it out.
That decision probably saved my life.
When they got the stone they also found bladder cancer. The bad news is that it is an aggressive form, the good news it was in very early stages and had not invaded the bladder. They took it out and I have to go back on 11/30 to get a biopsy of the surrounding areas. After that they will perform a type of immunotherapy which is different from chemo. Immunotherapy for bladder cancer is usually performed using the Bacille Calmette-Guerin vaccine ( BCG) which is applied directly into the bladder through a Foley catheter. The BCG triggers your immune system to attack and kill the cancer cells. I will have to go once a week for 6 weeks.
I asked how all this effects my life expectancy and was told it should have no impact since we caught it so early.
So I guess someone up there was looking out for me. We only found the cancer because I got a stone that should have passed but didn't. If the stone passed we would not have noticed the cancer until much later and who knows what the prognosis would be at that time.
So say some prayers that the biopsy comes out well and the treatment works.
And STC- thanks for the button
WOW. Really glad they found and treated it so early on. Hope all goes well. :)
Holy Crap!
Good call to go and get that stone.
Prayin your biopsy comes out clean and the treatment works.
Bad news, more bad news and then some GOOD NEWS. We pray the good news will continue.
That is really great news that they found it so early!
We'll put you on the Prayer list!
Gus my friend, my wife said to tell you, that you are in our prayers and that the easy button works well...she about wore hers out before passing it on to another lady with terminal cancer..
Good Luck my friend...
Gus, I hit my knees and said a prayer for you. I know that the LORD works in mysterious ways. This kidney stone was really a blessing as it got you to the Doctor to find that cancer. I will continue to pray for you and your health.
Gus,
I am glad to hear they caught it early. I have an Uncle who just went through what you are pending. His cancer was much more advanced and it looks like the treatment is going to work. Good luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers.
Rick
I'm on my knees for ya bud and the secretary just walked past and looked at me funny. Also have goose bumps on my arms. Those mysterious ways really do amaze me and humbles me.

Gus, I wish I knew how to express what I am feeling right now. What an amazing series of events. While I am sorry to hear you have to endure all of that, how awesome is it that thanks to a painful kidney stone that you chose to have removed that they detected something much worse and can be taken care of.
Prayers up my friend, prayers up.
I'm so glad this series of events caught it early. In my thoughts and prayers!
