Title: Cowboy themed dinner ideas
Post by: car54 on November 02, 2011, 02:24:14 PM
My wife is involved in a cowboy themed dinner and would like your input on this tenative menu or any ideas. No smoking will be involved because it will be made in a commercial kitchen.

Thanks, Brad

No chicken fried steak?  That was a staple

Skillet fried potatoes
Beef Stew with dumplings
Dump cake
Skirlie
Spotted pup
Corn dodgers
Fried bacon
Quick doughnuts
Fry bread
hardtack
Boiled salt pork
Fried salt pork
Dried apple pies

Early, the menus usually consisted of beans, beef, biscuits (sourdough type), salt pork, molasses, rice, dried fruit (mainly raisins, apples, and prunes), and of course, coffee. Canned tomatoes, canned peaches, and canned milk slowly became available.
