Title: MNF Greek Chicken and Potatoes
Post by: hal4uk on November 07, 2011, 08:24:58 PM
Watching DA BEARS tonight...
Thinking about Greek Chicken at The Parthenon Restaurant in Greek town (CHI)...

No... It wasn't nearly that good.
Not even close.
(wish I could be a fly on that kitchen wall!!)

But, it beat eatin' dirt.
Awrighten.

Ohhh.. it was quite edible...
Just didn't have all the ingredients I needed on hand, and it wouldn't have mattered anyway...
I just can't match any good Greek roasted chicken I've ever had.

I've noticed that this dish varies considerably in authentic Greek restaurants all over the country.
The first time I ever had authentic Greek Roasted Chicken was in Charleston, SC., in the early 80s.  It was incredible.

It's equally as good in Tarpon Springs and Greek joints just here and there...
The best I ever had was at the Parthenon in Chicago.

But, they were all unique, and they were all better than I can create (so far).
I think I need this:

Arrrg.
Awrighten.

That wouldn't happen to be that little greek place over toward James island, called Athens, was it?

We loved that place when we lived there.

Could be...  I'm not sure; been a while...  My mom lived there before/during HUGO...
I think her condo was over on the Mt Pleasant side, but we went all over...
Went with her several times to the place I'm thinking of...
I remember it was a detached building with its own parking lot.
White with blue trim (like most Greek joints)...
