Title: Pulled pork. no rub?
Post by: RFT on November 19, 2011, 10:00:07 AM
Hey all.  Going to do a butt today for pulled pork but really didn't want to make a rub. yes I am lazy but I am also putting tiles up for a back splash in kitchen and really just want to get the butt in the smoker.
Will forgoing the rub really make a big difference since it will be slathered with BBQ sauce anyway?

Agreed  8)

Went with the good ol Montreal steak seasoning.  Cant hurt.

I've got way to many things going on at once.  Kitchen is a disaster (tore up) at this point.

In the past I have tired pulled pork without the rub and it was just fine; I used a half and half combination of hickory and mesquite pucks and it really turned out good. Cook it and if you don't think it is quite right when the meat is shredded sprinkle a light amount of your favorite rub on the meat and work it in. When I have done this the meat would go into a crock pot for a hour or so until everyone arrived and nobody complained.

Pork turned out great it was a long night though. Got done at about 4am. FTC'd it and didn't get back to it until around 330PM this afternoon because of my kitchen renovation.
