Title: KCBS Rib Judging Criteria / Rib Throwdown
Post by: oakville smoker on November 21, 2011, 07:43:25 AM
6 days till the rib throwdown with my golf buddy.....
Preparations are already underway

The judging is going to be by a panel of blind judges in the interest of fairness
My hand selected judges are already being coached by myself

Probably more than two seperate plates so there is more than a 50 / 50 chance of selecting the right product
I am going to find someone of Japanese heritage to welcome my buddy to "rib stadium" and ask if he is up for the challenge
Ala Iron Chef except the secret ingredient will be not a secret   LOL

At any rate, does anyone have the official KCBS judging criteria for judging ribs?
I am even thinking of creating an official score card for this throwdown using the KCBS criteria

Here is a link to the official 2011 KCBS rules. That should help you out.

I've been a CBJ for three years, and a BBQ-Brethren Registered Judge for about a year. I have judge 28 KCBS sanctioned events, 1 BBQ-Brethren event, and about 4 Backyard Grilling Competitions. As for myself, ribs are the easiest category to judge.

If after reading the criteria and you need more information or clarification send me a PM.
