Title: Should I put brisket in oven?
Post by: crapshooter on November 27, 2011, 05:21:39 PM
After 5 hours or so the smoker felt cold so I looked inside and the heating element is not working.  I don't know if I have something wrong on the PID or if its the element. Should I just put the brisket in the oven? Will it cook okay like that with the rub and all on it?

I would go ahead and save your brisket by putting it in the oven.

I just put them on an inverted Bradley rack on a sheet pan.

Hang in there. Give Bradley a call in the morning, they should get a new element out to you pronto. They've had some challenges with bad batches of elements, there must still be some units in distributors warehouses that have the bad ones.

I moved the switch back and forth and it finally started working again. I've got it set to cook at 225 but so far it's still only up to 177. Guess it's going to take a long long time to cook.
