New member here. As a 20-year Brinkman charcoal smoker, I recently made the leap to the 4-rack BDS. Imagine my disappointment upon finding the ideal location on the back patio and assembling my new smoker, I was unable to exceed 130 degrees during seasoning. A quick call to CS, and a new heating element was on the way....problem solved! After a fairly painless installation on a Saturday morning.....still nothing above 130. At this point I decided to box the piece of $#!* up and return it with a nasty letter for a refund, but before doing so visited the website, and thankfully, found this Forum. After reading several posts, I found my problem: a lose wire in the smoke/heat generator. After a quick fix, I was up and smoking; although the baby backs that night weren't up to standards (excellent flavor but definitely not fall off the bone....human error I'm sure), the convenience of the BDS is undeniable. I am so thankful I found this Forum....look forward to pursuing the Holy Grail!
Welcome aboard. Lots of good info here. Lots of good folks willing to help.

Hope you saved the original heating element for a spare! Glad you fixed the issue and didn't give up on your Bradley.
