Title: Picnics At Superstore $0.98 lb
Post by: JZ on January 31, 2012, 04:54:48 PM
Went shopping today and found a bargain on picnics. Should have bought more but the store was crowded and we were in a hurry.

Is this ok to use to make pulled pork? Or sausage?

Yeah I got the ground meats to make sausage (first try) and got the picnics because they were cheap and I was sure that there was some way I could smoke em. Would these be OK for pulled pork and/or sausages?

Heck yeah you can make pulled pork out of them.

Just the picnic, or the whole shoulder?   Looks like the butt portion from the picture..

Glad I'm not the only one that thought those looked like butts.  Great catch either way at $.98/lb.

I am not sure what part of the beast it came from. Just cut it into 3 pieces vac sealed and into the freezer for future smoke time.

Damn - now I wish I grabbed more. Oh well that's life.

Cr*p I just checked online and they are butts. On sale until Thursday but I live an hours drive away - not worth the drive to save a few bucks. I should I could kick my own butt for not getting more.

That price is really good, the best we have around here is 1.29 and that is not all that bad...
