Hello. I am new to the forum and to smoking. I recently had a friend who moved away and left me his smoker.
While I am grateful for my good fortune, the problem is - he had a grease fire in the unit prior to giving it to me. The unit still smokes but does not heat up. I was hoping to get replacement parts and fix it. From what I have seen on the forum the problem could either be a tripped high temp sensor or a broken element. Any advice on what parts to buy and if I can tell in advance which parts need replacing?
Any help is most appreciated as I am a complete newbie at this point! I may add that I live on an island and I usually do my shopping when on the mainland. So I would rather err on the side of buying a replacement part I don't need versus coming back to the island without the necessary parts to do the job.
Start here with the parts..

First things first, where are you located?

You can see if it is either of those with a multimeter. Disconnect the wires from each component and see what the ohm resistance is through it. If it reads infinity then there's something wrong at that point. Others have already posted the Yard & Pool (http://www.yardandpool.com/Bradley-Smoker-Replacement-Parts-s/341.htm) link on where to purchase spare parts.
You posted this in the Digital Smoker, so I take it you are working on the digital model. When you plug it in are you getting any error messages? Or no power at all? How bad the grease fire was?
You should also check the wiring attached to the element, and make sure none of the insulation was burnt or melted off. If it was you need to replace the wiring with 14 ga high temperature wire.
When you purchase your parts, make sure you order the right parts. Some of the parts are different between the Original and Digital.
