Title: Beef Jerky
Post by: Keymaster on February 05, 2012, 08:51:44 AM
I picked up 4 pounds of London Broil yesterday and sliced it up and soaked it in Lems Jerky seasoning mix for 16 hours. This will be the first time I am using my dehydrator, It was on sale about a year ago for $99 bucks and could not pass it up. It would be going in the bradley but My shed had some roof damage during the ice storm a couple weeks ago and the roofer will be here today to do the repairs and needs to plug into the receptacle where I plug the bradley into on the back of the house. So no smoke today ;D

All Done, Its really super good but I sure do miss the hickory smoke. I'm really impressed with the dehydrator.

Nice looking jerky Key!

When you are unable to smoke your jerky you can cheat and add a little liquid smoke to the marinade :o

After careful review of the pictures I'm positive a defect was detected in the third layer on the back side of the plate. In order to verify this you need to ship the entire batch up to me pronto. I'll keep you up to date on the results.  ::)  :P  :D
Dang good looking snacks.  ;)

Yah, we'll have to get together sometime and have a cocktail with a Jerky swizzle stick. I drink mac & coke and sometimes vodka in Bloody mary's.

Hey Key that sure looks good.
If you give it a couple of hours in a smoker then into the dehydrator you will come up with the smoke and the texture and the look that you like. Did you use meat cure in this batch? I bet it didn't last long.

Kirby, I did use cure # 1 as I like to be certain of safetiness and I like the flavor and color the cure gives the meat. That weekend i was unable to use my smoker out in the back as the roofer was using the only outlet I have outside. I really like the dehydraator jerky and yes its all gone. Thanks Kirby!  :)
