Just finished up a digital proximity tachometer for my other hobby. Got it from Aubrins, I priced these out pre-made and they go for up to $400.00 bucks if you can find them. Most of the time they only go to 4000rpm (I need 5000) this one can go to 29000rpm :o Only cost me $80.00 bucks ;D
Those guys really do have cool stuff.!!!!

So what's it do? Check the proximity of something? :)

I actually race cars for a hobby and it for RPM on the engine. I have a magnet pickup in the crank hub and this unit senses the magnet as its flying around, and counts the pulses giving a very nice accurate RPM. Due to the type of ignition I use a regular tachometer won't work and I just use it for tuning, not actually in the car.
