Who uses Apple wood? What are the best uses for it? I just ordered some off Amazon.com 'cause it was on sale with free shipping and I wanted to try apple..... I've only used hickory so fay.
I like it with turkey and pork. Nice sweet light smoke
tdwester has it right. Apple & pecan are my "go to" woods for pork and poultry. Apple is also good for cheese, veggies, and fish.
Ditto on both answers. I like apple on poultry but I like hickory better! ;D
The wife likes apple on the yard bird. :)

Besides poultry and pork, CHEESE!!
Good! Glad I bought some! It will take a week or so to get delivered so it will be awhile before I get to try it.
I generally use apple for ribs.
I use it on ham and bacon.
I use a lot of apple then hickory and oak.
I have apple trees and a chipper. I have access to large super-sacks that I just hook up to the chipper to the bottom of the sack and go at it. I then spread them out to dry well then I put them in large gunny sacks that I get from a feed store. I smoke everything with apple and love it. You should try it on everything at least once. Then go look for some apple trees.

4given I see you are in caldwell, there are all those great fruit orchards near by and I'm sure they can get you some of the branches that they are trimming back.

What is a UDS?
Ugly Drum Smoker. Its a 55 gal barrel that you can turn into a smoker. Second easiest way to smoke meat.
UDS. Catchy.......... Is it one drum or two?
