Title: Apple wood?

Who uses Apple wood? What are the best uses for it? I just ordered some off Amazon.com 'cause it was on sale with free shipping and I wanted to try apple..... I've only used hickory so fay.

tdwester has it right.  Apple & pecan are my "go to" woods for pork and poultry.  Apple is also good for cheese, veggies, and fish.

Good! Glad I bought some! It will take a week or so to get delivered so it will be awhile before I get to try it.

I have apple trees and a chipper. I have access to large super-sacks that I just hook up to the chipper to the bottom of the sack and go at it. I then spread them out to dry well then I put them in large gunny sacks that I get from a feed store. I smoke everything with apple and love it. You should try it on everything at least once. Then go look for some apple trees.

4given I see you are in caldwell, there are all those great fruit orchards near by and I'm sure they can get you some of the branches that they are trimming back.

I could get tons of fruit wood. I don't live far from Sunny Slope and all those orchards and winerys. However I don't know hoiw to turn it all into those little pucks ...............

I have a UDS I play with also. I got a bunch of wine branches I'm drying out to try on chicken.

Ugly Drum Smoker. Its a 55 gal barrel that you can turn into a smoker. Second easiest way to smoke meat.

Apple for cheese,pork, poultry...works good for turkey also! I have even done it on salmon...mixed it with some alder..yum.
