Title: country style ribs

Hello all Harpo here. Its ben awhile since I have been here on the forum, I had a heart attack in Oct, I think now I am recovered to start smoking again. I am going to Smoke some country style ribs and half chickens here in the burgh (steeler home town) I need to know if I have to bake them for an hour like the receipe book says for bone in ribs, I will be cooking these chicken for 4 1/2 hrs will this bee long enough for the ribs to? Thanking all of you in Advance for the info.

Hi Harpo; Glad to hear your better now. I would just throw the chickens and ribs in at the same time and wouldn't mess with the oven thing. The ribs will probably take longer than the chickens and don't forget the FTC factor for your serving time. Start the ribs first if your going to serve everything at the same time. Sounds like your putting on a good feed down there. Have a great time.[:D]

No you do not need to cook them in the oven.  Just make sure they have atleast two hours of room temp before cooking them.  I know that may vary with some people, but that is how I have always been groomed to cook them.  I played ball with Willie Parker, Jeff Reed, and Greg Warren, so GO Steelers!!!!!!!!
