Title: Hello from Montana
Post by: timberbeast7 on March 15, 2012, 11:03:27 AM
Hello,

I'm getting ready to buy my first smoker, mainly for smoking wild game sausages.  I'm thinking about getting the Original Bradley with the PID.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Good choice. Welcome aboard. Invest in a remote thermometer like a maverick et732 for example.

After reading this forum for a couple hours I'd planned on it.  Any good places online I should be looking for the thermometer, PID, or other accessories?

Also, I could cold smoke with the OBS/PID setup... right?

Accessories at www.yardandpool.com

PID at auberins (http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14_28&zenid=2a9d14d3ee869da8983cfbe6129744ac)
Single or dual probe

Yes to cold smoke in the
Bradley. I have not done anything cold smoked yet but I would assume that you dont need it unless you modified thr heat element. Hopefully someone will be by to answer this.

You won't need the pid for cold smoking, as you won't be using the heating element, unless you're monitoring the cabinet temp. with the pid probe. You might want to concider the cold smoke adapter from Bradley. When it starts to warm up you'll want to get the heat from the SG away from the cabinet. I found one at Overstock.com. Yard and Pool carries them also.
