Title: First Brisket w/Pics
Post by: mikecorn.1 on March 24, 2012, 10:14:14 AM
Decided to make a brisket 9.57lb select cut from walmart. That's all they have. Trimmed up a bit more and coated with CYM and Zacks Brisket Rub. Hit it for 4 hours of pecan. (http://img.tapatalk.com/4c1f4313-ff3c-067a.jpg)

Came out excellent. Had a few slices from the end so I could vacuum seal it and take it to the inlaws.

Sorry, no slice pics.

Yes. I smoked it in the Bradley for 4 hours and finished it inside. Didn't want to leave the PID outside last night. Lots of humidity. Everything was soaked this morning. Looked like it had rained. TEXAS HUMIDITY. Plus I'm 15 miles from gulf of mexico.

I have looked at them Briskets at walmart, their huge. I think I may have had one in my cart one time and took it back out :D . They did not have any yesterday when I was there but I was looking for a Turkey boulder or whole Breast, None of them either.
Looks like you did a excellent Job Mike, Nice Job!!! Looks like you knocked them Poke chops out of the Ball Park too :)

You must have some nice inlaws to give them something that good. Want to trade inlaws? ::)

Nice job on the chops too. Wish I could get my hands on one of the BE. Maybe this summer.

Couldn't tell you. I have the propane model. It gets insanely hot. I'm not sure how that one works.

I pay close attention to choice and select after I learned the difference about a year ago ;D I so want to cook a whole brisket but its just the wife and I.

I came out good, the thinner end, Im guessing the point of it was a bit on the dry side but not bad. The fatter part of it was really moist. All in all it was a good smoke. I have yet to see a Choice Brisket at our Wallyworld. I seen one at  Sams Club but that bad boy was about $40  :o :o :o :o Too much for me to experiment with  ;D
