Title: Greetings!
Post by: Spliner on March 28, 2012, 11:12:47 AM
My new Bradley smoker will be arriving tomorrow (yay!) (New Original model).  I've been watching (and drooling) over these smokers for almost two years now and finally took the plunge after seeing them on sale yesterday.  Can't wait to fire this thing up and make some outstanding BBQ here in Missouri!

;D

I honestly can't wait.  I'll be moving in the next 30-45 days so my baby may stay in the box until I get in the new house.  But.. that gives me time to ask questions about a PID.  I've been reading and see the Auber PID's that people are using but am not sure about this new model of the OBS.  I have not dug into the forums enough yet, but I'm hoping there's some instructions on how to install a PID on the new model.  I already have a couple 120 packs of briquettes and some bubba pucks on their way.  ;)

Baby back ribs from heaven here I come!

That sounds yummy!  I have a bunch of Black Market BBQ sauce stockpiled for my first batch but will definitely be trying this recipe on the second batch.  I'm also partial to Sweet Baby Ray's, at least after I doctor it a smidge.  ;P

Black Market BBQ

These guys have a restaurant in my home town and produce their own sauce.  The Hawaiian version of their sauce is incredibly good.. tangy and spicy.

Welcome aboard. Better man than I am. I took mine out the box as soon as it hit the floor in my living room  ;D. You can always take it out and season it and then maybe, just maybe, you could do something easy like BB ribs  ;D ;). Keep the box and put it back in for the move.  ::)

Welcome Spliner, I wonder if you have the will power to walk by your crated Bradley every day, thinking about WHAT YOU MIGHT BE SMOKING RIGHT NOW, and leave it in the box 'til you move. :o ;)

It's sitting in my living room now.. hard as hell to walk by it and you guys are not helping lol!  Still waiting on the pucks and the briquettes to show up so that helps a little.  But it will all be here by Saturday and then the nail biting begins.  I'll begin moving as early as next week though, or painting/etc. on the new house so maybe it'll keep me busy enough to resist opening it.  Maybe.

It's still in the box.. and daily I come here and drool over the posts in the forum.  My anticipation has made me take several trips to the local Bass Pro to buy different flavors of bisquettes for the smoker lol.  It's looking like my first smoke will be mid-May at this rate at the new house.  Can't. Wait.

I couldn't stand it any longer so I assembled the smoker and seasoned it yesterday.  Now I have to decide what I want to smoke this weekend.  It'll be brisket or ribs.. just not sure yet which.  Both sound good lol.  Seasoning gave me a chance to get my bearings with the heat adjustment as well.  ;)

I'd go with some ribs. :)   3-2-1 or 2-3-.5 for more fall of the bone. Or what ever you like. Some don't do any boating in foil. Straight naked ribs. ;D.
Keep us posted with some pics.

Way to go Spliner! It's OK to succumb to temptation in this case. Ahhh.... the weakness of the flesh(pork, beef).  ;D ;D
