Title: Turkey rubbing
Post by: db14 on April 04, 2012, 03:05:20 PM
Getting ready to do a turkey breast for Easter and I'm open for suggestions on what to rub it down with.  I'm guessing I'll get a pretty big chorus of Jan's rub?   Don't know that I can get one without the solution added, but I will still plan on brining.  Let me know what you think.

I tried some Rub with Love Turkey Rub  (http://store.tomdouglas.com/products/turkey-rub-3-5-ounce) on my last turkey and I liked the results.  It may be too late to order it in time for Easter.

The below is a nice simple rub with amazing flavor on poultry:

Basic Poultry Rub (http://www.susanminor.org/forums/showthread.php?38-A-Basic-Poultry-Rub&p=49#post49)
If using this recipe for the first time, you may want to reduce the amount of Kosher salt.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I ended up just making up my own.

Separate question: how long should I expect the cooking time to be.  I've got a 6lbs turkey breast and plan to smoke at around 250.
