I goes to Costco this afternoon to load up on some pistachio's (5 bags) and 10 pounds of GB to make more jerky. While waltzing down the aisle I see a booth set up and a guy hawking Traeger grills. They have them marked $100 off. I ask him if Costco is going to start carrying them and he said this is a special deal for the week only. I eyes the Junior for a bit as it is marked at $299. I go around the booth and pick up a 20 pound bag of hickory pellets for $14 as that ought to last me a year for my A-Maze-N pellet smoker. Thinking real hard bout buying the Junior but just can't bring myself to pull the Traeger. At least not for now. Accountant finished my Corporate taxes and Uncle Sam is getting his fair share so will have to wait. :o
Dontcha just hate it. No fun when you got to hold back. :(.

I have a junior and I love it. It is a great entry level pellet grill. Nothing turns out ribs better than a pellet grill IMHO. I added a second shelf to it so I can fit six racks of baby backs. I also have mine on a homemade PID. Got some ribs going in it right now ;)
That would have been tough, I kinda want a pellet pooper myself.
Find one on Craigslist before you pay retail for a Traeger.
That 20# bag of pellets lasts me 20 hours in a long, cold, overnight cook. ;)

Was wondering how long a bag of pellets would last during a cook. When I bought the A-Maze-N smoker I bought 5 pounds of Hickory and I smoked a lot of stuff and bet I have over 3/4 of the bag left. That 20 pounds should last me a looooooooong time.
Would sure like to have a pellet popper but right now it is more of a want than a need. Cost of pellets for a cook maybe the thing to keep me from getting one :o
Not trying to discourage you, but the pellets are the only source of fuel/heat/smoke in a Traeger/MAK/whatever. Pellet costs can be an issue if you can't find a reasonably priced source of them.
You are a better man than me. I usually can't resist a temptation like this one. It's got me in a lot of trouble with the corporate office, I can tell you. It usually involves some sort of jewelry compensation. Can you say "diamonds"?
