Title: Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll Cake
Post by: SiFumar on April 27, 2012, 10:31:53 PM
This is very rich!  But crazy good for once in a while.  I use Korintje Indonesia Cinnamon from Penzeys, it is the must use cinnamon to taste like Cinnabon.

Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll Cake
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 T butter, melted
2 sticks (1 cup) butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 T flour
1 T cinnamon
2/3 cups nuts (optional)

Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
5 T milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
With an electric mixer or stand-up mixer, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, milk, eggs, and vanilla. Once combined well, slowly stir in 4 T melted butter. Pour batter into a greased 9x13" baking pan.
In a large bowl, mix the 2 sticks of softened butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nuts until well combined. Drop evenly over cake batter by the tablespoon and use a knife to marble/swirl through the cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out nearly clean from center. Place powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth. Drizzle over warm cake. Serve warm (we like it straight out of the oven) or at room temperature.

Well since this was a 'spur of the moment' decision on our part, we did not have any Penzey's cinnamon.  So we made do with what was in our cupboard.  Three words:  OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here it is all mixed together and ready to go in the oven.
Hot from the oven.
Topped with icing, and of course, we could not wait.
We had a late lunch - gyros sandwiches - and did not eat dinner since we were full.
This 'cake' was an AWESOME dessert!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing the recipe.
We will be making this in our Dutch oven when we are out camping!!!

P.S.  Hey Quarlow!!!!!  How is the shoulder these days????

I used my usual Saigon Cinnamon from Costco that I have used for years with good results. It is one of the stronger ones out there and has served me well.

Saw this and made it this afternoon.  It was a hit.  Used plain old store bought cinnamon and it was awesome.  Thanks for the recipe.

I'm glad everyone is trying it and liking it.  Any cinnamon is good with it.  I guess I should have said I've tried different cinnamon's but "I" felt the Indonesian taste more like Cinnabon.

My wife says she won't make it for me because she says I need to loose weight. So I have sent a copy of the recipe to all our friends. Sooner or later I am going to get an invite to have a slice. It depends how pathetic I can look. I would try to looked starved but that is not a look I can do. When I was growing up they used to call me string bean. It doesn't do any good to reminder her of that. She just says the bean needs to loose weight. In the mean time I just look at the pictures.

I was thinking about making this until I added up all the calories.  7,000 calories is something I don't need when I'm trying to lose a few more pounds and get in better shape for the riding season.  Looks good though.   :)

WOW!!!  That looks awesome.  We have a cookout coming up soon.  I may surprise everyone and make this cake instead of my usual salad or some type of appetizer.  Thanks for posting.

Lol I hear ya there.  When I make it, I cut into 2"sqs and keep 2 pieces, the rest goes into the hubby's work.  They tell him not to piss me off so they keep getting the goodies.

Remember you aren't eating it all...so you aren't getting all the calories!

If ya get 15 servings out of it, it comes out roughly to about 466 calories  :o. Oh well, like Sandy said, your not eating the whole thing. One piece, one time is not going to kill ya.  ;D  I too try to watch what I eat but occassionaly have to treat yourself, a cheat day  ;D ::).
