I'm storing my BS in the garage when not in use, smoke generator attached and cover on. But I was concerned a mouse could make a home inside. Now I don't know whether our furry friends would find the smell inside the smoker box too overpowering to consider building a love nest but I am in no mood to find out. I don't want no stinking love nest inside my smoker.
I have stuffed a clean rag down the puck chute for storage. I believe it is mouse proof. I think a couple of bisquettes or Bubba pucks left in the chute would eliminate the threat also.
You bring up a good point. I have had my stuff in a storage shed for five months, and just getting around to doing some unpacking, and have found several electrical cords and wiring damaged by mice.
As soon as I get off this forum, I am going to dig out my smoke generator and check the inside wiring for any damage.

I would just use the Bubba Pucks, if you use the briquettes, that may just draw the rodents to the smoke generator. The would use the wood from the briquettes as nesting material. While I am thinking about it, if I put it in storage again I would thoroughly clean the generator of all wood particles.
Bubba pucks work just fine if you leave the generator on. I made a small plate out of sheet metal to cover the opening and keep the generator in the garage to keep it out of the temperature swings during the winter. For some reason extreme cold, hot, cold swings mess with the generator a bit. I let a couple of the generators sit out and kept a couple inside and pluged all of them in at the same time and the ones outside did not function properly. I'm talking minus temperature though. One sheared the gears in the puck advance motor and the other generator would not advance pucks because of the switch failure. Don't get me wrong, these are great smokers but they need to be taken care of just like any other piece of equipment. The shrews (or mice) do not like the smoke smell in the cabinets, but they do like the wood pucks, so stick with bubba pucks if that's your option. BTW if you have large temp swings keep your smoke pucks inside where it's stable and they will last a lot longer. Tin foil down the feeder tube works better than a rag or paper towels. Those little varmits will even chew up fiberglass insulation! Oh BTW duck tape works to cover the opening also (but it leaves a sticky mess to clean up come spring). Get ready to rev up the smokers guys, it's getting about that time. Don't forget to enter the contest. We need those recipes!

Dryer sheets around the garage and near it also work. They hate the smell. And of course, the good old stand buy of Moth Balls. Mice hate those strong smells. The pucks they love. I keep all my pucks in a Plastic storage box tightly covered. As with all the other parts. The Bradley is sealed and covered.
Gee-Wizz, I'm thinking here....3hrs of something stong like Mesquite to internal of 165...many parts are edible.

hook an infrared heat detector up to the bradley and set it for mouse body temperature 98.4 deg...
set your 73 to alarm at 150 meat...
if you hear the alarm go off you gotta a bonus snack...

I went to Home Depot and bought magnetic covers for household vents. I paid over $6 for a pack of three measuring 8" by 15". I cut one with a pair of scissors 6" by 8" and placed it over the smoke generator hole. Mouseproof! Plus the airtight seal makes the cabinet odorless, which is nice even in the garage.
I wonder if ChezBubba might be able to manufacture and ship them cheaper seeing we have to buy much more than needed plus they're very lightweight.
