Title: Howdy from Texas
Post by: goosta on May 30, 2012, 12:50:15 PM
Hi everyone!

Just ordered a Bradley Digital Smoker and can't wait to get smoking. I've been wanting a Bradley Smoker for years, so I'm excited to finally join the bandwagon. This will be my first smoker ever, so I'm a complete newbie. Hoping for the best. Anyone have a recommendation on what I should start with? Something to get my feet wet that's not hard to mess up?

Thanks. :)

Welcome goosta,
You are gonna love your new smoker. Make sure to season it first. I would then say maybe try some chicken or a rack of ribs to start. Even smoked hamburgers are wonderful and easy to do. Just remember to cook to temperature rather than sight and you will do great.

ATX!!  Welcome to the forum. You can try some bird parts wrapped with bacon. As stated before, cook by IT AND NOT BY TIME :)

Thanks everyone! :D

My smoker arrived this morning, so I'm excited. Once the bisquettes show up later today, I'll get this sucker seasoned.

You can buy bisquettes at some academy stores and bass pro shops

Thanks for the tip! There is an academy store nearby, so I'll have to drop by and see if they have them.

Welcome to the forum.
Pulled Pork is easy to do.
Pick up a Boston Butt and cover it with cheap yellow mustard, then a good rub and into the smoker at 225° till you have an IT of 190°-200°, then FTC it (wrap it in Tin foil, then a Towel and put it in a cooler for up to 6 Hrs then pull it.
