Title: Dinner tonight
Post by: dman4505 on June 06, 2012, 11:15:38 AM
Here's dinner tonight:

3.58lb Half Pork Butt Roast
Covered with CYM and Uncle Joe's Rub Down Rub and wrapped in plastic wrap last night. Took out of fridge at 6:30am and added a little more rub, preheat smoker to around 210, 3 hrs. worth of Special Blend pucks loaded up and the butt was on at 7:15am

It's 1:15pm and she's at 170 IT on the way to 190-200, hope to be having some pulled pork sammies tonight when my mom and aunt get here from Branson.

Will post money shots later, the wife hasn't decided on homemade potato salad or some homemade mac and cheese to go with it.

Tough to find a good cheep price on the butts in the past four months.  Can't figure why, but :o, I pay the price anyway.

Kinda like gas prices here. We are surrounded by petrochemical plants that turn oil into gas and sometimes we pay more than others.  :o ???

Well looks like I'll have to modify the cooking process.
Went to check the water pan and the cabinet temp had dropped to 180.
Opened the door and the heating element was no longer glowing red.
After she cools down I'm going to do some trouble shooting, I may be ordering a couple new elements from our friends at Y&P.
For now the butt is wrapped in FTC and will probably be finished in the crockpot or oven.

Even though we didn't end up with pulled pork as planned everything still tasted great.
Potato Salad and corn on the cob were the sides.
The red stuff on the meat is a sprinkling of Starne's.

That plate of grub looks gooood.

A smoked, sliced pork roast with some taters N gravy (made from the drippins) makes for a meal fit for a king.
