Title: Lesson learned on weight distribution
Post by: goosta on June 17, 2012, 07:16:08 PM
Well I smoked a couple of pork butts today for father's day dinner. First time trying pork butts and they turned out great except for one thing. When the IT hit 195, I pulled out the rack a bit to see how they looked (had 2 of them on the rack, a 4.5 lb one in front and a 3.5 one in the back). Without thinking, I let go of the rack and the whole thing flipped forward and the butts ended up on the ground! Worst feeling ever! But I scooped them up and figured the concrete patio added a little extra flavoring... Turned out fine, but lesson learned. ::)

Just DON'T do it at the end of the cook!! They have a tendency to explode everywhere!! Unless you have a dog that you want to make really happy

I have a pizza peel that fits perfectly into the Bradley. Much neater, and I'm less likely to tip something onto the floor.

A little 'sidewalk salt' never hurt anyone anyway.
