Had a little time on my hands this weekend then a customer called asking if i could get some blue crabs. So i called our local Asian market that i usually get live fish from and they actually had some live ones.. So i whipped up a little boil and decided to do some boiled peanuts with my special cajun seasoning. so i figured i would post a few pics.. Feeling a little home sick now...Comr on Thursday.Ready for vacation....

Boiled peanuts......i love them!
They are the caviar of the south :D :D
I could go for the crabs and peanuts but like many things that start with the letter "T", (e.g., toads, tofu and ground turkey), Tilapia is not food.
Being from the north, boiled peanuts are not a staple and you just don't hear about them...ever. How does one boil peanuts? Water only? With spices? Length of time? I did see by the pic they're boiled in shell. And the taste? ???
My sister in law raved about boiled peanuts for years and finally made some for me to try. You must have to grow up with them because I thought it was a terrible thing to do to a nice peanut.
They are big in my parts of Louisiana and when i lived in Dalton Georgia for 6 years they were even bigger....I grew up with them and my mother used to boil them as snacks....
Boiled Peanuts
Raw peanuts
Water
1 bag Louisiana crab boil
few shakes of hot and spicy slap yo mama
tbl spoon - garlic salt
tbl spoon - onion salt
Dump all seasonings into a pot of water. Bring to boil add peanuts and keep a slow rolling boil for 2 to 5 hours
depending on desired softness.. I like to have them pretty soft so i boil them for about 4-5 hours.
Place in container and enjoy... They will keep in fridge for a few days..
Nice looking crabs. I have to agree with Ka Honu on the tilapia though. I saw an episode of Dirty Jobs on how and why tilapia are raised, and I haven't been able to eat them since.

Boiled peanuts!!!
Mom used to boil 'em in a big 'ol pot on the stove...
I couldn't see up there on my tippy-toes, but I think her "secret recipe" was water and salt... and salt...
Y'all need to stop your hatin' on tilapia. I like it! 8)
Great looking feed my friend and enjoy your vacation back in Louisiana.
Thankyou sir. I plan on it..
