Hello all! Mrs S here. I have been meaning to post this since we got home, and before we take off again.
Tasha was bored.

So, we decided it was time to make that cinnabon cake in the Dutch oven.
So, under Tasha's watchful (and very relaxed) supervision,

we got to work.
We made the batter according to the instructions in the recipe, then poured it in the Dutch oven:

Next we made the cinnamon mixure and dropped it by spoonfuls on top of the batter.

Then we swirled it:

We put the lid on the Dutch, then cooked it with enough charcoal briquettes to equal 350 degrees.
Here is the finished product, out of the Dutch and covered with icing:

Unfortunately, I did not have enough oil on one part of the Dutch oven, so when we removed the cake, some of it stuck and we did a so-so-cover up. :-[
We shared this with fellow campers, and they absolutely LOVED it. I also sent this recipe to numerous friends and coworkers.
All I can say is THANKS SEMPER FI for this awesome recipe!!
mrs seemore

UIS, no need to feel bad. Mr and I did not start really cooking in our Dutch ovens until four years ago.
It really is not all that different from conventional ovens. I can say that, though, since we do not do Dutch oven competitions. I have seen some of the things those cooks do on the travel channel, and they blow my mind!
We just enjoy doing things like this while we are camping.
Like I said once before, the pizzas I make at home are so-so (just ask Mr, he will tell you ... >:( ), but I can make a very good pizza in the Dutch oven.

That looks dellicious seemore. I searched and couldn't find the recipe. Care to share? This would be a great addition to my dutch oven cooks when we go camping.
That looks CRAZY GOOD!
Wow! Mrs Seemore that turned out fantastic! You did a great job with it!
At Wryman.....here is the original recipe for the oven.....
This is very rich! But crazy good for once in a while. I use Korintje Indonesia Cinnamon from Penzeys, it is the must use cinnamon to taste like Cinnabon.
Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll Cake
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 T butter, melted
2 sticks (1 cup) butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 T flour
1 T cinnamon
2/3 cups nuts (optional)
Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
5 T milk
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
With an electric mixer or stand-up mixer, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, milk, eggs, and vanilla. Once combined well, slowly stir in 4 T melted butter. Pour batter into a greased 9x13" baking pan.
In a large bowl, mix the 2 sticks of softened butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nuts until well combined. Drop evenly over cake batter by the tablespoon and use a knife to marble/swirl through the cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out nearly clean from center. Place powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth. Drizzle over warm cake. Serve warm.....or reheat to serve.
Thank you SiFumar. I will be making this for our annual lake trip in August!
Thanks, SI FUMAR, for sending the recipe to wryman, and setting me straight on your name. OY....and I am only 53. :-[
SEE WHAT I MEAN? I sent the previous message before I had finished it...... ::)
OldHickory, Dutch oven cooking is the best! We actually started with our old neighbors, making the world's easiest cake in their Dutch. I can't remember the order of the ingredients but it was only one box of dry yellow or white cake mix, 1 can of pie fruit and one can of 7 Up. That had us hooked, and then we starting playing.
OU, Tasha high-fives JD with one of her Diva paws!!!!!
BTW, I hope everyone had a happy, safe, and wonderful Fourth of July! SADLY, it is back to work tomorrow...
mrs
NP Mrs S.....I'm just happy you got the recipe right lol! It looks just amazing done by the dutch oven. I'm happy you shared it...it's to good to keep to your self! ;D
Since seeing your original post, I have made it twice! The second one was better than the first. (I used a different cinnamon.) Great breakfast food. A cup of java and a big piece of cake. What's not to like!! Gotta go. It's time to go ride my bike and work off some of the good food I have been making.
