Post by: SNIPERS215 on July 04, 2012, 03:59:14 PM
Hey all,
Just got my smoker this morning and decided that i'm going to try and learn a few things before i just throw some meat on there and waste my money screwing it up... lol.
And i've already got a question for you all.
What is a PID ?? and should i get one before i start my adventure smoking ?
Thanks and i'm looking forward to learning from you.

Hi Snipers215....and welcome!  What type of smoker did you get?  The PID is suppose to be to aid you in smoking sausages and maintain temps.  I bought one but haven't used it yet.(and have had it a year)  I should just sell it.  I have the OBS and have smoked just about everything.  And have been very happy with it.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  And take pictures!  And we eat our mistakes here!  Nothing ever turns out that bad!

Welcome Snipers215!  Short answer is no, you don't need a PID.  It is helpful if you are going to smoke/cook something that requires tight temp control such as sausage or some smoked fish recipes.  Otherwise the Bradley will perform just fine without any help.
