Title: New OBS on order
Post by: Badger59 on July 06, 2012, 09:06:47 PM
Been looking around on the forums for a couple months, and finally pulled  the trigger on a  new Bradley. Should be here next week. Now the big question, deciding what  put in it first   8)

IMO butt is the easiest but takes time. Chicken is a good alternative if you do not want to eat the skin. Some on here will toss chicken on the grill to crisp up the skin, but for me it still ain't right. Meat loaf is great also.

Ditto! To add, you can also do a fattie. Endless possibilities with what you can put inside

Welcome to the forum!  On choosing your first smoke it all depends on what you're hungering for.  Ribs and chicken can be eaten the same day.  Same with fatties.  You can always do wings, moinks and ABTs for a variety!    Just remember with chicken the skin does get a bit rubbery and you can take them off and finish on the grill or in a high oven.  Butts are usually a 12-14 hr low and slow cook.  What ever you decide...remember we like pictures!

i decided to go brisket on my first smoke, wow was I worried because I was making it for 6 people, and it turned out awesome. If I were you I would go for a 7 lb pork butt and get yourself a maverick wireless ET732 to monitor IT of your meat and the box because it does not match up. Read up and let er ride.

Welcome, you are hooked my friend!

John
