Title: Ryan from North Dakota
Post by: ndbwhunter on August 02, 2012, 08:50:26 AM
Hello all,

I am new to the forum as well as smoking. I'm currently in the process of researching the items needed to begin smoking. I have decided on the Bradley Original. Aside from that, I have no idea what I am doing, so any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You need your wood bisquettes. I use allot of hickory. A good rub. Welcome to the forum

Welcome aboard.  Here is a link to some FAQ's (http://www.susanminor.org/forums/showthread.php?481-Bradley-Smoker-FAQ-s) that will probably answer a lot of your questions.  If you have any others just ask.

Welcome and I think you are going to love your Bradley. Pick up a variety of wood pucks if you don't already have a favorite. Fruit woods tend to be nice and mild. If you know what you like in restaurant BBQ try to start with a rub that is similar. Go lightly on the rubs to start, you can't remove it if there is too much but can always add a sprinkle later to jazz it up. Start with forgiving stuff to get your feet wet, maybe a chicken. Ribs really aren't too hard either just look through the forum to get an idea of how others are having success. And remember that as long as you can eat your mistakes.....you done good and just have fun with it. (a nice cold beer helps when smoking meat)

All you need is a good supply of Bisquettes and a maybe a cold smoke attachment for cheese and salmon. Oh you are also going to need a lot of meat, and peppers and rubs and nuts and cheese........have fun.

Welcome.  Ditto what everyone else said.  The forum is great - and these guys apparently have a high tolerance for seemingly dumb questions - so don't hold back.  There's usually someone on here who can help.

Welcome to the forum.  This is the place to get help climbing the Bradley learning curve.  I fondly remember the years I lived in Fargo and Bismarck.  I return each year for some pheasant hunting.
