Title: Smoked Cashews

I want to smoke some cashews, but every recipe I find is for spicy nuts.

I would like a recipe without or with minimal heat.

Also what kind of cashews do I get?  Raw, roasted, etc...

I've been making smoked cashews for a while now and the whole family LOVES them

I get raw cashews from Trader Joes or on-line

Into the OBS at 220°F for 2 hrs with either apple, pecan, cherry, maple, ...
After 2 hrs of smoke, let them cool and then put into a sealable container - if there are any left due to everyone snacking

I don't add oil, salt, spices, ... nothing - natural internal oils and smoke flavor and they are amazing

Typically I load up a tray/SS colindar along with some hardboiled eggs to devil  :P  double treat

I'm going to have to make some this weekend   ;)

I keep it simple too.  I usually buy the salted cashews at costco and cold smoke them for 1 1/2 hours with alder or maple.  Delicious!

I make a buffalo blue cheese sauce, mix the cashews in then pour them on the frog mats to dry a few hours. Then smoke.. The non spicy nut lovers eat them up fast.

Costco has the best value on cashews  8)

Thanks for the info.

I am going to smoke half a pound tomorrow with some Brats.

Just the cashews, nothing on them at all.

I checked the local market for raw cashews but they had none  :'(
I ended up getting 3 pounds of raw almonds to go in on my next smoke. ;)
