Title: Recommendations for DIY smoker?
Post by: pmmpete on November 01, 2012, 07:40:43 AM
I know somebody who wants to build a smoker.  Can you recommend any books, internet articles, or forums which have information which would help him?

What are your thoughts about building a smoker out of an old refrigerator?  I would worry about the effect of the heat from smoking on the plastic interior and seals in a refrigerator, which weren't designed to handle heat.

There are some older posts here about people converting a fridge to a smoker..

The best bet would be to find an old restaurant/bakery proofer/holder.  They are insulated and designed to handle the heat.  Lots of shelves and the like.

Just have them Google "build a smoker" and they will find plenty of info.
