Title: Which Vacuum Sealer?
Post by: ragweed on November 23, 2012, 04:30:37 PM
I'm finally looking into buying a vacuum sealer.  I don't want to spend 800 - 1000 dollars.  200 - 400 dollars is more in my budget.  Been reading about Cabelas Pro Series and Commercial Grade as well as Foodsaver's V3880.  Read mostly "pro" reviews, but some "cons" too.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks...Joe

Kinda curious myself. I have an old Foodsaver and I have to double seal both ends and some times I still get leaks ... It is time for a new one for me.

I have the Weston, which makes the Cabelas one and am very happy with it. I had a foodsaver for many years and it worked ok except when sealing a lot at one time.

No problems with my Foodsaver V3460 upright model. The trick with liquids is to insert a folded paper towel in the bag to keep the liquids from getting to the sealer or pre-freeze the meat before sealing.

Got mine at Costco. They have a great price on the sealer and the bags.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  I decided to order a Weston 2300.  Cheaper than going through Cabelas, free shipping and a package of bags is included.  It's supposed to show up today!  Thanks again for your help.

I am also looking at the same one. Once you try it out post a note on how you like it?

Sorry CDN Smoker,  haven't visited the forum for awhile.  I received my Weston as scheduled and so far I really like it.  Very easy to use.  Produces a very deep vacuum, very quickly.  Cools rapidly.  I bought some of their new zipper seal bags for giggles and really like them too.
