I am trying to activate some of Sonny's starter I had in the freezer and I think I am in for a battle. I seen a couple of bubbles last night so I gave it a good stir. This was the second night after the thaw. Now no bubbles. Any thoughts? Should I feed it? I left it out last night and got no response.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jigger
James, was good talking to you and working out a plan to get that starter
up and going again.
Let me know about what's going on with it.
Well the Starter Gods were looking down on me and allowed this starter to be renewed. Just as good as before. This starter has been in the freezer for two years. What was the trick or secret? No trick. No secret. Just patience, perserverance and Sonny to help me along the way. Thanks Sonny.
I can't put enough emphasis on patience and not giving up. Take the starter from the freezer and put it in the fridge to thaw. If the starter is not in a glass jar I would recommend to do so. Just my preference. When the starter is thawed now is the time to feed it as per Sonny's recipe and cover with a towel and keep in a warm draft free place over night. Divide the starter in two and put in two jars and return to the fridge. Now you may get lucky and your starter may take after this process. This could take three to five days. If the starters have not taken (started to grow) or only have minimal growth, repeat the feeding process. This is where my starters took or began to grow and bubble. Sonny was there for me during this whole process answering any questions that I had. This was over the course of about 2.5 - 3 weeks.
After that I fed the starters again. I put one cup back in one jar, returned the jar to the fridge, and made 2.40 oz dinner rolls with the rest. Delicious. I have given some away in celebration of winning the starter battle and I have about five dozen left for superbowl. Sweet! I think I had about 9 dozen in total.
For those that have starter in the freezer, I hope you find this post useful and start using your frozen starters.

I wish I was special enough to get some of the starter. :'(
Sunny was nice enough to send me some about 2 years ago I think. Never did anything with it because my daughter said she would give it a go. Talked to her about it and found out the hard way she just gave up and threw it out. Dam kids these days. Almost wanted to give her a good what for but she is 34 years old and still needs to learn a few leasons. Sorry Sonny for that and thanks for your effords.
jiggerjams hung in there like a trooper.
He had great patience and just didn't give up.
I'm proud of you buddy. Great Job.
