I was wondering if it would be ok to modify the drip pan with another drain hole? i have been using a larger foil pan filled with water to catch the burnt pucks, and with this larger pan that's where the second drip hole thought came from. I'm sure some of you experts here have tried this and i was wondering if its worth a try? any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Can honestly say that I've never seen that brought up here before. I'm sure it probably has though.
I can't see anything wrong with that idea. Especially since sometimes the one drain hole can plug up with stuff.

I think it was CRG that modified the hole size with a 1 inch hole saw for better drainage
I thought of it. But even with long fatty smokes it never plugged on me. So i didnt. I even use the original s.s. bowl. But the one thing i di change was i added a cookie sheet that covers the complete bottom. It has a 1/2 " sides. Really keeps cleenups easy. Find the hole plugs as smoker cools down. But i wash all that in the sink after every smoke. All racks,bowls, grease catcher and cookie sheet. Makes everything easier and safer.

I never had a problem with the drain hole clogging but I did bend the louvers open more to allow for better flow of heat and smoke.

I did the same thing. Never had the hole plug. With that said I do not see how another hole would hurt as long as you have something under it to catch the drippings that would go through it.

The foil pan it use under the drip tray sure helps with the clean up. one othe question, could there be a problem with to much water in the smoker causing condensation?
Your vent setting will be what determines the condensation in your smoker.
Mine stays full open, but 3/4 is probably ok unless you are doing chickens or turkey.
Then you want a full vent.
A larger pan of water takes a little longer to get hot during the preheat so I use as
hot of water as I feel safe to spill on me on the way to the smoker.
