Title: Smoking the Turkey.... Temp Probe Location
Post by: DBWCigar on December 25, 2012, 07:14:13 AM
Merry Christmas Smokers..

Got my little 13lb'er smoking away in the grill at 220 degrees.. IT temp is raising pretty fast for only being in about 1 hour 30 mins.. 133 degrees after 2 hours...

Question: I put hte probe in the breast around the same location that Butterball sticks there little pop up probes..  Is this the proper location?

Thanks
Dave

Thickest part of the breast and (if you use two) thickest part of the thigh.  Stay away from the bones.

Remember only 1/2 as deep as meat is thick. The probe is on the very end.  And a hollow turkey cooks from both sides.
