Hi all,
Going to the Mardi Gras back in KyNola's stomping grounds. Getting a few bucket list items checked off this time. We are going to a Coronation Ball and riding in a parade with Pontchartrain. Go a lot on the ticket for a 5 day trip. Not just the above but also got to get back to Mother's and Johnny's for some more food. A Hurricane is always on the menu. Amy got to have her Cafe du Monde. As always got to see as many parades as we can squeeze in. Definitely The Krewe of Barkus.
With the riding we also will be going to Galatoire's Restaurant, balcony party at Johnny White's Pub and Grill, Tipitina's Uptown for breakfast and brunch at French Quarter Courtyard. There is suppose to be an after parade party (an after party party?) but that location is TBD.
For the Ball got the kilt ready to go. Amy has an amazing dress (no one will notice me that's for sure) and a new hat that we will pick up from a French Quarter millinery.
All in all looking to back an exhausting and killer weekend.
Any other food recommendations?

Have a great trip Jim. If you can squeeze in the time, try Ralph's on The Park. Great place for dinner. Owned by Ralph Brennan. The new restaurant in the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street is getting RAVE reviews. The name of the restaurant is R'evolution. The brains behind the design of the restaurant and menu is none other than Chef John Folse.
Of course the old standbys that you already know about. Redfish Grill, Napoleon House, Cochon, Acme or across the street, Felix's.

KyNola, you know how hard it is to find places to eat when your wife is finicky and squeamish? It's a trial to say the least ;D I am drooling over those menus and realize there isn't a thing for her!
Since we had Galatoire's on the ticket we are going to count that as our big splurge meal. Got a budget to come somewhat near :'( Thank you for reminding me on Napoleon House and Cochon though. Also might get Acme in but not sure abour Felix's as it's site is still down from renovation. May not be open yet.

If you want to get out of the quarter you should try Jaques Imos on Oak street. Great food and quite a character. Just take St Charles heading to uptown. Most cab drivers know where to go.
When are you going? We'll be down there next weekend..
I'd have to add Oceana to the recommendation list. We've eaten there every trip down now. Right next door to the Royal Sonesta.
Also, we had dinner with the KyNola's at the New Orleans Pizza Kitchen and loved it.
Definitely hit Cochon or Cochon Butcher and Jacques Imo. If you like oysters, Luke has them for 50 cents each during Happy Hour (3-6 PM, Mon-Fri). We've also done well at Oceania (as I see stc just noted).
I expect to hear some stories about you when I go in April - something along the lines of, "You won't believe what this guy did last Mardi Gras." (I hang out with the owners of Johnny White's and I trust you'll have made an impression).

Yep. Leaving next week on Thursday and flying back the following Monday. Love to meet but I have to say we are going to be on a whirlwind tour so I can't say when we will have time to meet. We will be playing things by ear.

I will be wearing a kilt to a balcony party, I have no doubt I will make many impressions 8)

Amy just gave her thumbs up for both of those. Probably grab breakfast at Cafe du Monde, go to the French Market for shopping, hit Fleur de Paris (hat store) and than head back for pizza. She will always eat pizza.
