getting ready to smoke some kielbasa and my PID is showing -H-   -H- . Does anyone know what this means?It programed fine but won't turn on the smoker.

Are the probe connections plugged into the back?  Loose connects will give that to you.  Is the unit beeping?  Try to unplug the SG and the cabinet outlets and see what that does.  Then plug one back in then the other.

Well it seemed to fix itself .Maybe it needed to warm up .I went back out and it was running fine.It's only 17 degree's out and  2 degrees with the windchill .It was 62 wensday gotta love Ohio weather .Thanks for the help Sailor but it's working now .Is storeing it in the cold bad for it?

I keep mine on the back porch year round but I live in south Florida.  I hear that some of the guys that life in the north have to bring their units inside to warm up before they start the smoke.  Once warmed up the PID works fine according to them.

Yes it probably had to warm up. Not sure what the low end of the probe working is, but I know it is higher than 17*

If its below 32 F the PID wont work, I have to warm up the smoker by pluging directly to the wall for a few min then plug back in to the PID and were good
