Title: Valentines Day breakfast
Post by: OU812 on February 17, 2013, 06:58:16 PM
Our Valentines Day breakfast was today,,,,,,,,,,,Momma worked late every night last week
Take a lb of my breakfast sausage
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4175_zps1300eb9e.jpg)
Cook till brown
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4176_zpsfe539b63.jpg)
Wile the sausage was cookin we get the gravy started,,,,,,,,,,there aint enough grease from the sausage to make the gravy so we go with the next best thing,,,,,,,,,,butter
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4177_zps88a68c97.jpg)
When the butter starts to sizzle whisk in the flour and cook till golden brown
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4178_zps743455c2.jpg)
Slowly add 4 cups water, a little garlic salt and some black pepper,,,,,,,,,,,,,I use water,,,,,,,,,,,milk and me dont get along in the mornin
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4179_zps38af6cf7.jpg)
When the gravy is as thick as I like it time to add the sausage
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4181_zps4099854c.jpg)
Cook up some biscuits
(http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww263/OU812_bucket/sausage/100_4182_zps11dc57c6.jpg)
Lets eat!!

Looks great Curt!  Next time you make that gravy try using chicken stock instead of the water.  Makes a seriously good gravy.

Looks great Curt, Thanks for the stock tip Larry I bet it really gives it a more rich flavor.  Hey Curt, I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Penzy's yesterday.  I was going to have you pick it up but my order was big enough for free shipping.

Impress your family and friends, tell them they are not eating gravy.  They are eating a Veloute sauce, pronounced Ve-Loot-A. (big fancy French cooking term)  By using chicken stock instead of the water with the roux you are making a Veloute sauce.

Class dismissed. ;D
