Title: My last day after 41 years
Post by: pikeman_95 on March 02, 2013, 09:43:35 AM
Well yesterday was my last day of work. I have put in 41 years and now I am retiring. I now have time for all the things that I like to do. Might even make some sausage. It sure is going to seem weird to not go to work Monday morning after all these years.

Welcome to our ranks of the retired people. It takes about a week to adjust, it did for me.

I'm one month shy of my first year of retirement. Wish I'd done it 34 years ago. Pace yourself and don't rush your projects. You can milk this out the rest of your life.

Thanks guys. My Dr. told me that It would be a good idea if I started swimming for exercise. I just about cracked up. He had no Idea how much I like to swim and what I do when I swim. I did not get to go at all last year with my back being fussed in the spring and took all summer to heal. I haven't tried to swim with my SI joint problems. I will have to try and see how it goes.

Congrats Kirby! It must be a little bit bitter sweet. Our work is usually how we men define ourselves. Now you can do "fun" work. I suspect you have more that enough "hobbies" to minimize your time playing Dominos in the park. ;D ;D ;D

Congratulations Kirby.  On 4/1/13 I will have been retired for 2 years.  I can honestly say I have not regretted it nor missed work one bit.

You are going to love it.  Enjoy yourself to the fullest.

Tony
Mt fiddler and his dad are making sausage in a couple of weeks. I might talk him into letting me shove a few pounds of sausage through his stuffer. He has just got one of my 30 pound stuffer barrels and I would like to watch it work.

Congrats.  After 41 years you have earned a restful and relaxing retirement.   I just wish that retirement came early and then we worked until we dropped.  That way I would be in better shape/position to go do.  :)

Congrats Kirby,
I was surprised how fast I got into the swing of it. No boss looking over your shoulder is easy to get used to ( except SWMBO).

Congrats Kirby!  Being self employed I only work when my wife wants me to and it seems she always wants me too   ;D  I had dreams of retiring at 55 and that came and went.  Then at 60 and that came and went.  Will be 62 in May I am thinking of drawing SS before it is all gone.

Enjoy your retirement my friend.
