Title: Digital read out remains showing 88888888
Post by: rclaxb on March 03, 2013, 07:12:43 AM
Just purchased the smoker (BTDS76P) yesterday and this morning tried the seasoning method.  I have power, the the smoker heats up, but the digital read out is not operating and shows all 8's. I did take the lastic protective shield off when unpacking it. No change when I press on/off Smoker or on/off Oven.  Just thought I try and see if anyone knows what I might have done wrong before I call Bradley tomorrow.  Can not call today it is the weekend.

Bradley will be your best source for this.  But, I did read where Bradley had suggested unplugging the small cable that connects the SG to the tower and try plugging it in reverse of what the person had done.  They also suggested wiggling these two plugs while in operation.  They must have been looking for a bad connection or a bad cable.  This cable is what connects to the temp sensor.  It may also turn out to be a defective sensor.  You can try this until you can give Bradley a call.

Thanks for the quick suggestion.  Yes, I did that before posting, but did it again and juggled it and reverse it but the read out remains all 8's and does not light up like all digital numbers light up.  Monday morning call to Bradley.

Tanks to another person's post on a similar topic I opened the generator and found a lose wire to the digital display. I pushed it in tight and now the display works.  Great forum.  Solved my problem.  Now I will look for an easy recipe and smoke something tomorrow.
