Hi, I am just about to buy one of these digital smokers. My question is when you use it for say meat, then fish and then meat again is there any fishy smell left that taints the flavour of the meat?
I'm asking simply because I do not like fish (even though I am a keen fisherman snf catch for the wife).
How do you guys manage this please??
Thank you in advance
Welcome to the forum :)
I use mine with both fish and meat never had a mix in the taste or smell.
The only smell that my smoker has is the smell of smoke. Really makes the garage (where I store it) smell good.
You won't get any cross smells or flavours. Just good old smoke scent. I smoke fish and and almonds on the same day(not at the same time) and the almonds don't taste like fish at all.
welcome aboard and have never noticed any cross flavors between meats
This is never an issue in my experience. I have smoked fish and beef jerky at the same time and one did not contaminate the other. The smoker just smells of smoke afterwards.
Welcome aboard! No fishy smell at all, as others have said, good old smoke smell. I alternate between salmon, beef, and pork all the time. I clean the racks, V tray, and water bowl after every smoke, which you should do anyway.
Unless the fish is above the other product you are smoking and it drips on the other product, you will not have any cross flavors.
